You have mastered the basics of cycling and are ready to learn some new skills to enable you to ride on residential roads. You'll learn how to ride your bike to the library, the corner store, maybe even the movie theatre! Level 3 is the most important course Safer Cycling Calgary offers.

You've already taken Level 2 and don't need to take anything more if you are just going to ride on pathways and in parks. However, unless you have a pathway at your front door and no destinations that don't have a pathway connection, you will wind up riding on the road at some point. We recommend you take a Level 3 course to learn some new skills to enable you to ride on residential roads. We recommend a Level 4 course for you!

You already have a lot of skills, but there's always something new to learn. The Level 4 course is essential if you intend to commute to work by bike (downtown, dense commercial or industrial area), do bike touring or if your job involves cycling. It is also a prerequisite for becoming a CAN-BIKE Instructor.

We recommend a Level 2 course for you!

You've learned some things about biking, but need more before you head for the roads, or perhaps you don't want to ride on any road and that's ok. The Level 2 course will help you learn some essential skills which you can apply on the pathways and in parks, where you don't have to worry about autos.
