Cycling is fun!
It's not in our name, but we believe strongly that cycling is - and should be - fun! When you're having fun, you're building skills, whether you know it or not. If you're inspired by people having fun, you might find yourself running from your screen to your bike to learn how to do what they're doing.
Some videos for inspiration:
- Danny MacAskill's Wee Day Out (and any other Danny MacAskill video)
- Learn how to wheelie
- Kids handling skills
A little more serious:
- Chilean Grandma makes a living biking hundreds of miles
- Canadian teenager rides around the world
- Anthony Desnick Ted Talk: The amazing way bicycles change you
Just for laughs:
- Kid has shocking bicycle accident
Reading is fun, too!
If you're not in the mood, or unable to go for a bike ride, maybe you'd like to read about biking? There's many different books about cycling, but a few that I've read and recommend:
- Anything by Joe Kurmaskie ("Momentum is your Friend", "Mud, Sweat and Gears" in particular)
- Cyclecraft (North American edition) by John Franklin (the UK version is fine, if you can reverse your brain)
- The Enlightened Cyclist by Bike Snob NYC
- Wheels of Change: How women rode the bicycle to freedom by Sue Macy
For younger kids:
- Fox and the Bike Ride by Corey Tabor. Read aloud video version.
- A Bike Like Sergio's by Maribeth Boelts. Read aloud video version.
- The Bike Lesson by Stan & Jan Berenstain. Read aloud video version.
- Justin's New Bike by Barbara Hill. Read aloud video version.
For older kids (tweens, teens):
- The Red Bicycle: The Extraordinary Story of One Ordinary Bicycle by Jude Isabella. Read aloud video version.
- The Green Bicycle by Haifaa Al Mansour (recommended for adults as well - based on a movie called Wadjda)
